Survey finds skilled talent shortages persist
Perhaps one of the most common issues reported by organizations in previous years deals with finding quality talent. ManpowerGroup’s 8th Annual Talent Shortage Survey indicates that this trend continues to be true.
The survey of nearly 40,000 employers in 42 countries and territories (including more than 1,000 U.S. employers) found that 39% of U.S. employers continue to have difficulty finding talent possessing necessary competencies.
In fact, the most commonly cited reasons for difficulty in finding the right talent include:
- • A lack of technical competencies (48%)
- • Lack of workplace competencies/soft skills (33%)
- • Lack of/no available candidates (32%)
To combat these shortages, many organizations are adopting practices, such as expanding training and development for existing staff, recruiting more from untapped talent pools, and appointing more high-potential individuals—all of which are components of a sound talent management program.,
