Myths about Millennials Busted

When it comes to the workforce, there are many stereotypes regarding Millennials. IBM recently conducted a global study aimed at separating fact from fiction in an attempt to learn more about Millennials in the workplace.

MYTH 1: Millennials have unrealistic career goals.

FACT 1: Millennials are similar to other generations in that they seek financial and job security.

MYTH 2: Millennials expect endless praise.

FACT 2: Millennials do not desire continuous praise from management. Rather, they prefer transparency from their bosses and managers.

MYTH 3: Millennials are so addicted to technology that they lack the boundaries between their work and private lives.

FACT 3: Millennials are actually less likely to overlap their work and private lives because they were raised with technology.

MYTH 4: Millennials are afraid to make decisions for themselves.

FACT 4: Millennials are no more likely than other generations to seek group consensus when making decisions.

MYTH 5: Millennials will quit a job that doesn’t fulfill their passions.

FACT 5: Millennials are like everyone else. They are more likely to leave a position for monetary reasons than passion-fulfillment.
