Innovative CMA projects
From “mom and pop” family owned businesses to nationally renowned companies, CMA has proven to be an insightful and helpful partner in their client’s endeavors. CMA is a group of gifted and talented psychologists that have devoted their careers to making sure the business community is aligned and sound. They do this through assessments, interviews and guides to help make the client a better business person, no matter what field they belong it. This part of that they do is highly sought after and valuable for not only individuals but also companies as a whole. Many people know of our assessment services, but CMA goes beyond those. Through applying highly trained staff and their knowledge, research, networking and passions, CMA has been taking part in some really neat projects that one would have never thought CMA would be involved so deeply with.
CMA’s Entrepreneurial APA:
CMA partnered with a global entrepreneurial association to develop a measure of Entrepreneurial Leadership. This multi-dimensional model was developed over two years and helps established entrepreneurs understand their leadership approach. CMA started by researching what makes established entrepreneurs different from other professionals as well as from emerging entrepreneurs. Using a methodologically rigorous process, CMA conducted focus groups, implemented statistical analyses and validation methods to create a 10 minute long online survey that can help develop entrepreneurs regardless of where they are in the world.
CMA’s Healthcare Job Simulation:
A large healthcare client of CMA’s had been using CMA’s assessment process for years to select, promote and develop talent within their organization. However, as their organization grew and shifted their strategy from a leader centric philosophy to a collaborative philosophy they wanted to expand their talent selection and development process to include a job simulation. They engaged CMA to marry academic rigor with real life scenarios to create a job simulation to nail down what an individual would do as well as what they did do. The psychologists at CMA were able to create a customized simulation that tested the behavioral elements of their new philosophy in addition to the core CMA assessment battery. Not only does the simulation strengthen the success of the selection process, it also gives candidate a glimpse into the organizations culture.
International Assessment Center:
CMA paired up with a German based consulting firm to create global assessment centers. Over a span of 8 months, CMA cultivated materials and translated assessments from German to English. CMA researched labor laws, union rights and global differences to ensure that assessments were cross culturally relevant. These centers are highly specialized by industry and geographical location. CMA standardized instructions, implementation procedures and questionnaires to increase inter-rater reliability and internal consistency across assessment centers. The global assessment center can be used to assess candidates spanning various job levels and industries.
CMA’s involvement with national contract tutors:
Competition often spurs advancement and in the case of CMA’s client this was the circumstance. When a national tutoring company’s largest competitor threatened to use technology to create advanced matches our client was eager to get ahead of the game. CMA was able to create a student profile that could be used to identify and match students with tutors based on desire to learn, teaching style, learning style, personality common interests and parent expectations. A project like this has the potential to take years to create, but through extensive teamwork and measurement design expertise within CMA to create a successful matching tool in about two months. The surveys CMA created helps match tutors with students, allowing alignment, not only scholastically, but on a personal level to insure that the student can reach their full potential threshold, and speed for learning.
