How much trust do you place in your assessment data?

The Aberdeen Group conducted a study with more than 640 organizations for “Assessments 2011: Selecting and Developing for the Future” report. Particularly, this study highlighted key differences in assessment use by best-in-class organizations vs. all others (average and laggard companies).

One of the key differentiators between best-in-class companies and all others is the degree of trust placed into assessment data. When asked about the criticality of assessment data when making organizational decisions, the Aberdeen Group found the below:

As the findings suggest, assessments (for selection and development) are central to the talent management systems of best-in-class organizations.

Assessment data provides insight not only into hiring but also informs development and promotion decisions—if that data is properly used and appropriate to the position. Such information not only enables organizations to maximize the talent they have but to see deeper into current strengths and future potential.
