Being happier at work
Being happier at work can be the key to staying motivated, building better personal relationships, gaining more perspective, and even being a better problem-solver. Psychology Today highlights several tips to create more bliss in your work environment:
- Create a morning ritual: Start your day on a positive note by doing a consistent and meaningful activity. It can help handle stress, while keeping you calm.
- Set a goal with a visual cue: Create goals with a visual cue. This will be a daily tangible reminder of your goal.
- Socialize with your co-workers: Find the time to interact with co-workers. Micro-interactions, such as small-talk can create a support network at work.
- Embrace effortless action: Do not skip breaks. Allow time for relaxation. Doing so encourages increased productivity.
- Play more: Step away from work to explore, grow, and have fun. Enjoy moments of humor during the day. Doing so decreases stress and recharges the brain.
- Take a different approach to email: Be more courteous in email. Ask light questions and address the other party by their name. Such simple gestures can create lasting ties.
- Talk to strangers: Talking to strangers allows us to get to know ourselves better. Take strangers out to lunch. This can foster positive networks.
- Make a meeting a moving one: Schedule meetings outside of the stereotypic conference room. Engage in conversations in a walking-friendly environment. It is easy to be engaged when involved in a moving discussion.
