Habits of fearless leaders
Everyone feels fear at one point or another. Fearless leaders feel the same adrenaline as everyone else when they get fearful. However, fearless leaders respond differently. They feel anxiety but continue to move forward. A recent Forbes article highlights the habits of fearless leaders:
- They are careful not to react in the moment. Many people experience strong emotions in the workplace. Everyone is under pressure so it is easy to get angry. Fearless leaders do not emotionally overreact in the workplace. Rather, their goal is to keep the team morale high and keep everyone calm. They are confident that they will get to the bottom line of what went wrong and ultimately, fix it.
- They assume good intention. Fearless leaders do not assume the worst of others. Rather, they remember that everyone comes to work to do a good job. They know that no one does his or her job badly on purpose.
- They take responsibility. When something goes wrong, a fearless leader knows there is no one to blame. They are the leader of the department. They trained employees and all members are part of their In other words, all work was done under their watch. They reflect on their own leadership at these times. Fearless leaders take responsibility for all things that occur in their department–the good, as well as bad.
